The coronavirus pandemic killed a record 865 people in the U.S. in 24 hours through Tuesday evening. This emerges from a balance sheet compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
The death toll in the United States rose from 3,008 at 8:30 p.m. EST on Monday to 3,873 at 8:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday.
The United States now has 188,172 confirmed cases, by far the highest of all countries, ahead of Italy, Spain, and China.
