Around 940,000 Singaporean households living in homes of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) receive discounts for service and protection fees (S & CC).
The Treasury Department (MOF) announced on March 25 that the disbursements for April 2020 to March 2021 will total S $ 134 million.
Eligible households receive discounts of a total of 1.5 to 3.5 months, depending on the type of apartment.
Families who live in one- and two-room apartments receive the highest discounts, with the fees being offset for 3.5 months.
Those in 3 and 4-room apartments get 2.5 months, and those in 5-room apartments get two months off.
Households who live in executive or multi-generation apartments are also entitled to 1.5 months of S&CC discounts.
Eligible households in Singapore will be notified by the MOF from the end of March and will receive quarterly payments from April, July and October 2020 and January 2021.
The government introduced S&CC discounts for the first time in 2013 in order to directly offset part of the service costs that HDB residents regularly have to pay to their city councilors.
During the 2020 budget speech in February, Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat announced that it should be extended for another year to support Singaporeans in difficult economic times.
