Acer has announced this year that it will launch a new version of its Aspire 5 laptop based on the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U cell phone chip. The company also announced the release date for its Swzen 3 powered by Ryzen.
With both product lines, Acer wants to offer relatively slim products at an affordable price. Reviewers often find that the devices look more expensive and feel more expensive than they are. The U-series, which contain both laptops, is designed for ultra-portable devices.
The upcoming Acer Swift 3
Acer
The 14-inch Swift 3 includes the 15W Ryzen 7 4700U with eight cores, eight threads and a base speed of 2.0 GHz, which can increase up to 4.1 GHz. It consists of an aluminum housing and a magnesium-aluminum cover. The company describes it as "slim and stylish". It also contains up to 16 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage as well as a 1080p display. Acer promises a battery life of 11.5 hours.
Intel and AMD will compete on a range of laptops this year. If AMD isn't your speed, you can currently buy a configuration with 10th generation Intel Core i5 processors.
The Swift 3 powered by Ryzen starts at $ 629 and will be available in April.
The upcoming Acer Aspire 5
Acer
The 15.6-inch Aspire 5 has up to 24 GB of RAM and an SSD with up to 1 TB. It's cheaper than the Swift 3, but doesn't offer as much performance. The 15W 4500OU has six cores, six threads and clock speeds of 2.3 GHz, which can increase up to 4.0 GHz. (The Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 demarcations match the Intel Core i5 and Core i7, respectively.) Acer markets the Aspire 5 as a budget option for families and small businesses.
The Aspire 5's AMD configuration starts at $ 519 and will hit stores in June. You can now also purchase the Aspire 5 with 10th generation Intel Core i7 and Core i5 chips.
