The first episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired 30 years ago this month. To celebrate the milestone, Airbnb is allowing people to spend the night in the same mansion used on the popular '90s sitcom – but only if you live in Los Angeles County.
Starting September 29, residents will have the option to spend $ 30 to spend a night in the freshest mansion in Los Angeles County with one more person. Residents can choose from five available dates: October 2, October 5, October 8, October 11, and October 14.
In case you didn't already know, I was born in the mid-1990s. Although I was very young when the show originally aired, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was syndicated on a variety of television channels. There was Carlton's goofy dance, the snarkiness of the butler Geoffrey, and let's not forget the emotional scene Will Smith had with Uncle Phil talking about his father (does anyone else cry when they see it?)
During their stay, guests have access to a specific wing of the house that Will Smith's character stayed in during the run of the show, and it just stinks of the 1990s in the right way. Bedrooms that guests stay in include a wall-mounted mini basketball hoop, access to Will's wardrobe on the show (a shirt might look familiar to you if you remember the intro), and a lovely display of hats and Jordans on a shelf.
But see for yourself; The photos really sell me on booking a night (if only I didn't live in Maryland).
Obviously, you're not locked in the bedroom all day. but you will probably still have a great time. The listing explains which parts of the villa you have access to:
It's your cot for the night. So you can act like you own the place. My wing of the villa includes my bedroom (great for a nap), full bathroom (great for spitting bars in the shower), pool area (great for dips), an outdoor lounge and dining room (great for dining). And you have to do it like my DJ Jazzy Jeff so don't forget your sunglasses!
Oh, I didn't even mention the best: Will Smith is the host.
This isn't the first time Airbnb has offered the chance to stay in homes that take me back to my childhood. In 2019, you could stay at the Barbie Malibu Dreamhouse for just $ 60 a night, and later that month, residents of Deschutes County, Oregon had a chance to spend the night in the last remaining blockbuster video store.
