It's been two and a half years since the news came out that Steven Spielberg would restart his 80s anthology series "Amazing Stories" for Apple's then-unnamed streaming service.
After a few dramas behind the scenes, “Amazing Stories” was released on Apple TV +. The first two segments are currently available. The first, "The Cellar", is a time travel romance, while "The Heat" is a combination of ghost story / crime / sports drama.
As we explain in the latest installment of the Original Content podcast, it is difficult to say exactly who this show was made for. Both episodes aired so far are going to be pretty goofy, as if the show was made for kids – but they're also moving in surprisingly dark areas. Both start with familiar attitudes and then take some surprising turns, but the results are not very satisfactory.
In the end, none of us found it difficult to get excited about the remaining three episodes of the series.
