Chinese internet giant ByteDance has announced plans to discontinue two of its apps in India, the largest overseas market, and has urged its users to switch to TikTok.
Vigo Video and Vigo Lite, two apps that allow users to create and share shorthand sketches and lip sync with Bollywood songs, released a message early Monday (local time) announcing that they will be discontinued at the end of October this year .
In his post entitled "A Farewell Letter," ByteDance said it was sad to shut down the apps but offered no explanation for the decision. The Indian news agency Entrackr first discovered the letter.

While Vigo Video won less than 1 million users in a year, Vigo Lite shredded as many over the same period as the data showed.
Both apps counted India as their largest market, but were available in several other markets, including the neighboring nation of Bangladesh. It is unclear whether ByteDance will discontinue the app in any market. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Other contributions show that the company wants to hire executives to aggressively look for ways to monetize its services in the country. ByteDance's TikTok app has been reviewed in India in recent weeks because videos promoting violence, cruelty to animals, racism, child abuse and objectification have not been actively removed.
In today's message to Vigo apps users, ByteDance said it will help them migrate their videos to TikTok. On TikTok you can show your talent to a larger group of friends. We look forward to seeing you (there)! “The message is.
