The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has been actively looking for innovative ideas in recent months uplift and improve the provision of important public services through technology and digitization.
With more than 100 identified problems, MOSTI sent a call to innovators, software developers, subject matter experts and concerned Malaysians.
The call to action? To join MYHackathon 2020, a nationwide series of hackathons under the National Economic Regeneration Plan (PENJANA). The ultimate goal was to work together to develop digital solutions to solve personal problems and ultimately improve the wellbeing of Malaysia's citizens.
You will find the latest updates on Tuesday, January 26th, in the livestream for the MYHackathon 2020 Final & Showcase.
The problems were collected from all levels of government from federal and state to municipalities / districts and divided into six subject areas. Rakyat Prihatin, Rakyat Sihat Sejahtera, Ilmu Pelita Hidup, Bina Negara, Nilai Keluarga Asas Pembangunan and Rakyat Produktif.

36 winning teams from all over Malaysia were selected in two categories Sprint and marathon. The 18 winning marathon teams will develop their solutions up to the pilot phase for the next 12 months and will have to register a new company if necessary.
Last place for Agridata, one of the winners of the Kota Kinabalu marathon.
For example, MyOKU, one of the winners of the Kuala Lumpur Marathon, will work on its information and management system for people with disabilities during the course of 2021.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, this series of hackathons was conducted online to give Malaysians from all walks of life the opportunity to access the event to present their ideas in front of a jury.
These have culminated in one final will be streamed live on the Cradle Facebook page on the website January 26, 2021.
This is an opportunity for viewers to interact with the mentors, industry experts, and participants who have witnessed a national hackathon that is the first of its kind. The event will include speeches by Rafiza Ghazali, Group CEO of Cradle; YBhg. Datuk Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir, the general secretary of MOSTI; Dr. Surinasirah Pakih, a representative from MOSTI; and various panel discussions.

The keynotes and panels you can catch on the 26th
Spectators can look forward to one too special keynote by YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of MOSTI at the closing ceremony at 11.00 a.m. He will then interact with all 18 winners online.
The 18 winners will also have the opportunity to speak to early-stage angel investors and VCs prior to the event.
