While people across the country and around the world are protesting police brutality and demanding justice for the murder of George Floyd and others, the unfortunate reality is that the global pandemic continues and puts people at risk of dealing with COVID-19 infect. To help demonstrators Saturday night live Star Chris Redd has created a relief fund for those who can contract the virus while walking on the street. "I would hate if my people would fight for justice later," he wrote in a tweet on June 1.
Chris set up a GoFundMe on Tuesday to raise $ 250,000. "With thousands of people taking to the streets to protest racial discrimination and the many black lives lost through injustice, we also have the unfortunate fact that this deadly pandemic is still coming," wrote Chris on the page. "Life in which injustice is at risk is also the most vulnerable to COVID-19. Many will not be able to bear the inevitable costs of their courageous efforts."
According to the site, the funds raised will be used specifically for testing, treatment and any hospital bills related to COVID-19, injuries during the protest, and bail and court costs for demonstrators. By June 3, the fund had raised over $ 170,000. Check out the link below to donate to Redd's COVID-19 Relief Fund and learn more about how you can help fight racial injustices.
