Washington, United States:
President Donald Trump on Sunday dismissed reports considering dismissing Secretary of Health Alex Azar as criticism of the U.S. response to the coronavirus pandemic increased.
Trump, at risk of losing public support ahead of the November election due to the increasing death toll, has argued over stories in CNN and other media.
"Reports that H.H.S. Secretary Alex Azar is" fired "from me are fake news," Trump wrote on Twitter.
"They are desperately interested in creating chaos and chaos in the minds of the public."
Trump renewed his attacks on Fox News, which he is targeting when the general support show comes under fire.
"No respect for the people who run @FoxNews. But Fox is still trying to get politically correct," he said.
"The people who see @FoxNews … are angry. They want an alternative now. Me too!"
He separately threatened to file lawsuits for his media coverage and called on the Noble Committee to withdraw the awards, presumably a reference to the Nobel Prize, which has no journalistic category.
Trump appears to have suspended his daily television reviews of the virus after suggesting that patients may be injected with disinfectants to kill an infection.
He later claimed to have spoken "sarcastically".
More than 54,000 Americans have died from the novel corona virus.
