COPENHAGEN:
Denmark confirmed its first coronavirus infection in a man who recently returned from a skiing holiday in the northern Italian region of Lombardy, the Danish health authority said on Thursday.
After the man tested positive on Wednesday evening, he and his wife and son, who both tested negative for the virus, were isolated in his own home.
"We take the new situation very seriously. Work on containment and tracing has started," said Health Minister Magnus Heunicke in a statement.
The case will not change the country's current risk assessment released on Tuesday, which finds a low risk for a nationwide epidemic, the Danish health authority said, but added that further cases of infection are expected in Denmark.
