DMX is currently in a coma while in a hospital in White Plains, New York on Wednesday (April 7th). The legendary rapper (née Earl Simmons) suffered a heart attack after a reported overdose last week and is in a "vegetative state", according to his lawyer.
According to Steve Rifkind, the manager of X, his condition remains unchanged and doctors are scheduled to run tests to determine the level of his brain function. The results of the tests could prove critical in determining the health score of DMX.
“DMX is currently life sustaining and is in a coma. There are several people with inaccurate information about their wellbeing who are not helpful and productive, ”Rifkind told NBC News Tuesday evening. "Tomorrow he will have more brain function tests and his family will find out what is best from there."

Nakia Walker, another DMX manager, told the New York Times that he was still in a "vegetative state". Additionally, Walker told Buzzfeed News that he had "lung and brain failure and no brain activity."
His family said in a statement to PEOPLE: "We ask you to keep Earl / DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes and prayers and to respect our privacy when we face these challenges."
According to TMZ, the heart attack occurred in his home around 11 p.m. on April 2nd.
DMX has been fighting substance abuse for years and has been in rehab several times. His last stay was in 2019.
