Lewis Hamilton has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
The seven-time Formula 1 champion will miss the Sakhir Grand Prix this weekend in Bahrain. The Mercedes team announced in a statement on Tuesday (December 1st) that Hamilton had been tested three times last week and returned negative results each time.

Nonetheless, Hamilton woke up Monday morning with mild symptoms and "was informed at the same time that a contact had subsequently tested positive before arriving in Bahrain," the team said. "Lewis therefore did another test and returned a positive result. This has since been confirmed by a new test."
Hamilton is currently isolated and following all quarantine protocols.
"Apart from minor symptoms, he is otherwise fit and healthy and the entire team wishes him all the best for a speedy recovery," said the team's statement.
