The big story: G Suite becomes Google Workspace

For the most part, Google Workspace is just a renaming of G Suite with a new set of (less prominent) logos for Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Documents, and Meet. But the company is also bringing a number of new features to the market.

For one, Google (as previously announced) integrates Meet, Chat, and Rooms into various applications, with Gmail being the service where they really come together. Other features that will be available soon include the ability to collaborate on documents in chats and a “smart chip” with contact details and suggested actions that appear when you @mention someone in a document.

Prices remain largely the same, although there is now a Business Plus plan for $ 18 per user per month with additional security features and compliance tools.

The technology giants

Apple will announce the next iPhone on October 13th – Apple has just sent out invitations for the upcoming hardware event, but they confirm the arrival of the next iPhone.

The Facebook portal has support for Netflix, Zoom, and other features. The company will also introduce easier ways to launch Netflix and other video streaming apps using one-touch buttons on its new remote control.

The Instagram 10th Anniversary release features a Stories Map, custom icons, and more. There's even a selection of custom app icons for those recently inspired to redesign their home screen.

SpaceX Wins Contract to Develop US Missile Tracking Satellite Network – The contract includes the creation and delivery of "spacecraft" (actual satellites) that form a constellation that provides global coverage of pre-missile warning and tracking.

Salesforce Ventures launches a $ 100 million impact fund to invest in cloud startups with a social mission. Areas of focus include education and retraining, climate protection, diversity, equity and inclusion, and the provision of technology for nonprofits and foundations.

Ÿnsect, the manufacturer of the most expensive insect farm in the world, is raising another 224 million US dollars. The team hopes to provide insect protein for things like fish feed and fertilizer.
