Gojek and its insurance partner Gigacover announced today (February 21) a free extension of their income protection insurance for driver partners to cover claims related to Covid-19.
Gojek has been a partner of Gigacover in Singapore since last year and provides drivers with income protection coverage of $ 80 per day while on vacation in the medical and hospital sectors.
This is available to driver partners at a subsidized price of S $ 22.40 per month or as free coverage for Gold and Platinum drivers.
Now Gojek driver partners who have acquired the income protection plan are also entitled to benefits related to Covid 19 at no additional cost.
If you traveled to China before January 31, 2020 and received a residence permit (SHN) or a leave of absence (LOA) on your return to Singapore on or after January 31, you can claim up to S $ 560.
They also receive up to S $ 400 if they are infected and up to S $ 6,500 if they are hospitalized for the coronavirus.
These enhancements are added to Gojek's previous support efforts, including coverage of up to S $ 1,000 for drivers quarantined for 14 days or more.
For quarantine driver partners on GoFleet (their vehicle rental program), in addition to a one-time allowance of S $ 100, vehicle rental is waived.
In a press release, Gigacover said the offering was "the most comprehensive Covid 19 cover for freelancers in Singapore."
Gojek Singapore General Manager Lien Choong Luen said: "When we look after our driver partners, we know that they, in turn, offer our drivers the best experience."
"Gigacover was a great insurance partner and they really stepped up in this critical phase of the Covid 19 outbreak to protect the health and wellbeing of our driver partners."
