Google An update was released for the Duo Video Chat app today (which you definitely shouldn't confuse with Hangouts or Google Meet, Google's other video, audio, and text chat apps).
There are lots of jokes to be made about Google's abundance of chat options, but Duo tries to be a little different from Hangouts and Meet, since it runs on the phone first and focuses on face-to-face conversations. In the beginning it was all about one-on-one conversations (hence the name), but that has obviously changed (so Google will certainly change its name sooner or later). This update shows this focus with the addition of a so-called "family mode".
As soon as you activate this mode, you can scribble on the screen, activate a series of new effects and virtually dress up with new masks. These effects and masks are now also available for one-on-one conversations.
On Mother’s Day, Google is introducing a special new effect that is so annoying that your mother never wants to use Duo again and immediately makes her switch to Google Meet instead.
Just last month, Duo increased the maximum number of chat participants on Android and iOS to 12. In the next few weeks, this function will also be integrated into the browser, where it works for all users with a Google account.
Google has also launched a new ad for Duo. This happens when marketers work from home.
