Houston rapper Chucky Trill was shot dead on the Atlanta Interstate early on Friday, March 5th. He was discovered in a vehicle around 3 a.m. and later died in the hospital. He was 33 years old.
The lanes north of I-85 were closed for more than two hours to allow an investigation, according to the Houston Chronicle. A police spokesman said he believed a person from another vehicle shot into the rapper's car.
The Atlanta Journal constitution reports that Trill, born Corey Detiege, was the son of '90s Houston rapper D of the Trinity Garden Cartel.
"Obviously, these types of shootings are very worrying for the police," said police spokesman Cpl. Collin Flynn. "Not only do you have the two vehicles that were involved in the shooting, but you also have several people driving on the freeway who could also be victims of this type of crime."
Before his death, Detiege was seen on an Erica Banks show at a local club. After Banks found out about his death, she posted a picture of him on her Instagram story with the caption, “We just went to the club last night and told us how we showed up this Sunday. Wow. Get some rest, Chucky. "
Carl Crawford, a former MLB player and current head of Houston label 1501 Certified Entertainment, also wrote in an IG post: "So shocked to hear we all had a good time."
