Two years have passed since the 2019 release Jesus is king, but fans of Kanye West are due for a new album. On July 20th, the rapper premiered a clip of his upcoming track "No Child Left Behind" during a Beats by Dre commercial with track pro Sha & # 39; Carri Richardson. This commercial also served as an album confirmation for Wests Donda.
Prior to the Beats advertisement, several Twitter accounts claimed West premiered new material at an invitation-only event in Las Vegas. Many of the tweets contained excerpts of supposed new songs from the long-awaited Donda, which was originally scheduled for July 24, 2020. Named after West's late mother, Donda was teased for the first time in March 2020 before the rapper shared a song on Twitter with her voice on July 13, 2020 and then deleted it.
On Thursday, West hosted an album listening party at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, which gave fans a first look at all of the songs. In addition to features from Pop Smoke, Travis Scott, Pusha T, Baby Keem, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, the album also includes JAY-Z, who had a rocky relationship with West over the past few years. In a song allegedly entitled “Guess Who's Going to Jail Tonight?” JAY-Z refers to their new friendship and raps: “This could be the return of the throne. Hova and Yeezus, like Moses and Jesus, "alluding to their 2011 community album Watch the throne. The official album was supposed to be out on July 23 at midnight, but it still hasn't been released. At this point it is unclear whether the album will be released later in the day or if West is delaying the release to refine some of the songs.
