The second season of Netflix Dead for me tied a few loose ends together and created a handful of new ones. Sure, we found out how Steve Wood really died and the stop sign Jen was fighting for in Laguna Beach has finally popped up, but Jen and Judy's impulsive decisions have opened up several boxes of chaos that everyone is dealing with must be with us in the next season – which we officially get! On Monday July 6, the streaming giant announced that Liz Feldman's dramedy had been extended for a third and final season.
"From start to finish, Dead for me is exactly the show I wanted to do. And it was an incredible gift, "said Feldman in the statement announcing the renewal." Telling a story that comes from grief and loss has stretched me as an artist and healed me as a person. I will be indebted to my criminal partners, my friends for life, Christina [Applegate] and Linda [Cardellini] as well as our brilliantly talented writers, actors and crew members forever. I am extremely grateful to Netflix for the support Dead for me from day one and I am excited to continue our cooperation. "
Fortunately, the show has already prepared its next big drama: will Ben get caught for meeting Jen and Judy in season two finale? In the last scene of episode 10, the two women drive home in a brand new car when another vehicle hits the driver's side at full speed, beating Judy unconscious and injuring Jen. Ben is unmasked as the other driver who appears to be driving under the influence – the camera pans to an empty bottle of whiskey next to him before he turns off. While both Jen and Judy seem to gain awareness in the seconds after the crash, who knows how coherent one of them is after such a hit! The next season will have to deal with the aftermath of the hit, especially if either woman could see Ben's face amid the smoke.
Of course, Steve's murder also needs to be dealt with, which teases the finale when a dog starts rummaging around where Jen and Judy buried him in the forest. When his body is found, Detective Ana Perez will have a hard time ignoring Jen's confession as planned. We'll have to wait and see how the series sums up all of these important stories, but in the meantime we're just happy to see that there's a little more life left Dead for me.
