"Vanessa and the family wanted private service to mourn their loss," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "The ceremony was extremely difficult for everyone, as they are still difficult to understand that they have lost two beautiful souls."
The Mayor of LA, Eric Garcetti, previously said about the public memorial service, according to E! News: “We are a city that believes in each other, in something bigger than us. "We will do absolutely everything to ensure that this is done so that everyone can get to it."
Kobe, Gianna, and seven other people were killed on January 26 when they took a helicopter to the Mamba Academy for basketball training in nearby Thousand Oaks. The plane crashed in Calabasas and killed everyone on board.
