The Lithuanian police intervened in a domestic dispute on Wednesday after a man locked his wife in the bathroom because of fears of the corona virus.
"We received a report that a husband and two adult sons refused to let the woman out of the bathroom after telling them that they could have been infected with the corona virus," Ramunas Matonis, national police spokesman, said AFP.
According to reports, the woman informed her husband that she might have contracted the new corona virus when she spoke to a person who had traveled from abroad.
"Police officers arrived, there was no violence, no complaint, so an ambulance was called," said the police spokesman.
Local media reported that the woman was tested negative for the presence of the new corona virus, which has previously infected a person in Lithuania, a Baltic state in the EU with 2.8 million inhabitants.
The 39-year-old male victim recently returned from Verona to an area in northern Italy where most of the deaths from the disease were recorded in Europe.
The death toll in Italy was 100 on Wednesday.
In total, the virus has killed over 3,000 people worldwide, most of them in China.
