Miami, United States:
A man was arrested for pointing a gun at a shopper who asked him to wear a mask because of the coronavirus pandemic at a Walmart store in Florida, the police said.
The 28-year-old Vincent Scavetta was arrested for mortal injuries with a lethal weapon and inadequate exhibition of a firearm, the sheriff's office in Palm Beach said.
"Welcome to the PBC prison, my son. Let this be a lesson. It could have ended badly," the office wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
Scavetta had drawn the gun during a verbal argument about his refusal to wear a mask.
Walmart, the world's largest retailer, has been demanding that everyone wear facewear in their stores since July 20.
But many Americans still refuse to wear them, and President Donald Trump and his political allies have not encouraged them to be used for months.
However, Trump seemed to change direction earlier this week.
He tweeted a photo of himself with a mask saying, "We are united in our efforts to defeat the Invisible China virus, and many people say that wearing a face mask is socially patriotic when you are not socially can distance. "
"There is no one more patriotic than me, your favorite president!"
Republican governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, a staunch Trump supporter, is facing a violent backlash because he has refused to mandate the use of masks across the state. Some mayors have imposed such requirements independently in their cities.
Earlier this month, a bus driver died in France after being severely beaten by passengers after asking them to wear masks according to the corona virus rules.
