2020 has brought many people to see the power of loss, but Michael B. Jordan is learning to turn negatives into positives.
In a post shared on Instagram on Friday (November 27th), the actor, recently dubbed the "Sexiest Man Alive" by PEOPLE, wrote that fighting can be a motivator for the future.
"This year has really shaped our lives," he writes among numerous videos and photos of himself and others from recent years. "It gave us the opportunity to think about everything and be more grateful and appreciative."
He continued, "My family … my … friends … the thanks and support have not gone unnoticed! Sending love and light."

Regarding his own career, the 33-year-old told PEOPLE earlier this month that he hoped to direct more in the coming year. He is also looking forward to the next decade.
"Just grow whatever the next evolution of me. Hopefully (I'll) have a family by then, I'll throw that into the universe. I want to make a difference in the world, not just through the roles I play . "
On November 18, it was announced that Jordan had been named PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive and became the cover story for this issue. During the interview with the magazine, he was pretty humble about the distinction.
Jordan called the honor a "cool feeling," but his crew always teased him about the fact that he might never get voted the magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive". "You know, everyone always made this joke, like," Mike, this is the only thing you probably won't get. "But it's a good club to be a part of," said Jordan.
