I'm sure the new Microsoft Edge is a fantastic web browser. I look forward to trying one day.
But Microsoft, I have one piece of advice for you: with so many Windows users Googling "Microsoft Edge cannot be uninstalled" that you absolutely need to own the search result by making it the title of your FAQ … maybe just force it not for windows users?
Here is a screenshot of the new support page for posterity:
To be clear, I'm not saying Microsoft shouldn't update users to the new version of Edge, especially after today's announcement that Internet Explorer and Legacy Edge will be completely phased out in exactly one year. Continued security updates are important!
But instead of telling users what effectively boils down to "You can't uninstall it because we decided not to let you", Microsoft could potentially take a hint and give users what they seem to want. This is how the Google search volume for "Uninstall Microsoft Edge" has changed over the past few months:
By the way, you can apparently still get rid of the new Edge. (Odd how the Microsoft site omits this.) All you need to do is familiarize yourself with a few shell commands.
