Popular music app publisher MWM has closed a round of funding of $ 55.9 million. Blisce / leads the round with Idinvest Partners, Bpifrance (Large Venture Fund), Aglaé Ventures and Xavier Niel.
Some of MWMs Apps include Edjing Mix, Beat Maker Pro, Drum Machine, Beat Snap 2, TaoMix 2, guitar and drums. The company has grown slowly to cover more areas in music, from production to learning to games and utilities.
Next MWM wants to expand beyond music and tackle new industries in the creative space. And the company appears to be well positioned to reproduce some of its successes as MWM has attracted over 400 million app downloads over the years.
Some of these industries are already quite busy, such as video and photo editing. MWM hopes, however, that it can become a kind of Adobe for mobile creativity apps.
The startup has also launched hardware products. With the latest product phase, you can turn good old turntables into digital DJ controllers. After connecting a receiver to your mixer, you only need to place two tiny receivers in the middle of your turntables on the records.
MWM was founded in 2012. A total of USD 67 million (EUR 60 million) was financed. The company currently has 70 employees in two branches in Paris and Bordeaux.
