The popular Battle Royale shooter Call of Duty: Warzone is expanding its already large lobbies for 150 people so that 200 people can take part in competitions in quad mode, publisher Activision announced today. The new lobby size will be released tomorrow, June 30th, at 2 a.m. ET with an update.
Warzone's big lobbies are one of many ways the game tries to stand out from the increasingly crowded Battle Royale market. However, if you play in a quad mode lobby with 200 players after this update, you'll face 49 other teams of four, which could make Warzone's already hectic games even wilder.
According to an image from Activision's blog announcing the update, the mode will appear to be available for a limited time only. However, it is unclear exactly how long the mode will persist. Activision did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
When Warzone launched in March, Activision hinted that the game could one day get lobbies for 200 people. "I can tell you that we're already playing with 200 players," said Patrick Kelly, co-director of Warzone developer Infinity Ward, in an USA Today interview released on March 10. "We'll release that a little later."
