The national holiday is just around the corner. To celebrate this, Netflix has just announced a series of more than 100 local TV shows and films.
Spend the long weekend on National Day with films from Singapore such as the critically acclaimed film Ilo Ilo, I Not Stupid and Money No Enough.
Fans of The Noose and Phua Chu Kang will be happy to know that these classic series will also be gradually released on Netflix from August 1 to enjoy on National Day and beyond.
This applies in addition to the Singaporean titles available on Singapore such as Ah Boys to Men, Revenge of the Pontianak and various Mediacorp dramas. Little Nonya was recently released on Netflix too much fanfare.
The list of films and TV shows was announced today by posting on Netflix's Facebook page.
So that subscribers can easily find the films and series, Netflix will also place all works produced in Singapore in a special category "Singapore, now streaming".
The release of these locally produced classics is made possible through partnerships with local studios Clover Films, Mediacorp, MM2 Entertainment and Memento Films.
"As a Singaporean who has grown up with many of these classic shows and films, I am incredibly excited to enrich the Netflix catalog with these top Singaporean stories made by Singaporeans for Singaporeans in Singapore to celebrate National Day," said Raphael Phang, Content Acquisition Manager for Southeast Asia at Netflix.
Although the annual National Day parade is reduced to just 150 viewers due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Netflix subscribers from Singapore can indulge in patriotism throughout August.
