A new startup called Notivize is designed to give product teams direct access to one of their most important tools to increase user interaction – notifications.
The company has been testing the product with select customers since last year and has already sent hundreds of thousands of notifications. And this week it announced that it had raised $ 500,000 in seed capital led by Heroic Ventures ,
notify Co-founder Matt Bornski has worked for a number of startups, including AppLovin and Wink, and he said he has "so many stories I can tell you about the time it takes to change a notification that is deep in yours Stack is anchored. "
Bornski does not speak of a simple marketing message that is part of a planned campaign. Instead, he said that the "most valuable" notifications (e.g., those that users actually respond to) usually depend on activity in an app.
For example, it may sound obvious to send a text message to a customer once the product they bought has been shipped. However, Bornski said that to create such a notification, a technician would normally have to write new code.
"There is the traditional way these things are structured: the product team states that we have to send this email if this happens, or we have to send this SMS or notification if this happens, then the engineering Team go in and find the part of the code where they find something like that happened, ”he said. "What we really want to do is give the toolkit (to the product team) and I think we have it."
With Notivize, non-coding members of the product and marketing team can write “if-then” rules that trigger a notification. And, according to Bornski, this also makes it easier to "test and optimize your copy, your broadcast times and your channels A / B" to ensure that your notifications are as effective as possible.
He added that companies don't usually create this for themselves because when they first create an app, it's "not a rational thing to invest time and effort if you are just testing the market or fighting for the fit product market." , “Later, however, it can be difficult to“ pull out all the old stuff ”- instead, you can simply use what Notivize has already built.
Bornski also stressed that the company is not trying to replace services that provide the "installation" for notifications. In fact, Notivize can be integrated into SendGrid and Twilio to send the notifications.
"Actual sending is not the core value (of what we do)," he said. "We improve the quality of what you pay for and what you send."
With Notivize, customers can send up to 100 messages per month for free. After that, the price starts at $ 14.99 a month.
"The steady advancement of low-code and no-code solutions into the product management and marketing stack continues to free up market speed and product innovation," said Michael Fertik, founder of Heroic Ventures, in a statement. "As an early investor in multiple developer platforms, it is clear that Notivize cracked the code of how non-technical teams can be empowered to manage critical yet complex product workflows."
