Karachi:
A groom was beaten up by his first wife's family the third time he was discovered tying the knot in Karachi's area of North Nazimabad without her prior permission.
The groom registered a case against the attackers for smashing the wedding and roughening it, GeoTV reported.
The incident occurred on behalf of the Taimuria Police Station in Block L of North Nazimabad.
According to the police, both parties were advised to go to the civil court and had no reason to detain the groom.
However, the police said the groom was injured and wanted to take legal action against his attackers. Therefore, he was brought to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical and legal formalities.
Speaking to the media, the groom said, "She is my first wife. My relationship with her has ended. It happened recently … a few days ago. I will also send a (legal) message, and mine Lawyer will talk to them too. "
In the meantime, the woman claimed that her husband had secretly made the second marriage in 2018 and has now been caught trying a third marriage in a similar way.
Under the Muslim Family Law Ordinance of 1961, written approval from the first woman is required before the knot is tied a second time.
