Dubai:
According to a media report, a 23-year-old Pakistani citizen is on trial in Dubai for allegedly trying to take a gold necklace from an Indian woman.
The court of first instance will announce the judgment on March 8, the Khaleej Times reported on Sunday.
The incident was reported to the Bur Dubai police station on November 30 last year.
The defendant tried to snap the gold necklace from the complainant, a 32-year-old Indian housewife, when she went home from a clinic after 10 p.m.
The man "came up to me from behind and tried to snap my gold necklace," the woman was quoted as saying in the report.
However, the Pakistani man's offer was thwarted after the woman screamed for help and two passersby rushed to her to help and caught the accused.
The woman had some cuts on her neck.
The two passersby who came to the aid of the woman were also Pakistani citizens – a 41-year-old businessman and a 21-year-old taxi driver, the report said.
