Marion Ramsey, best known for her roles in Police Academy films and on the Broadway stage in Eubie! From 1978, reportedly died Thursday at her Los Angeles home. She was 73 years old.
Variety confirmed the news with Ramsey's manager Roger Paul. The outlet reports that she recently got sick, but her cause of death is currently unknown.
Ramsey was best known for her role as Officer Laverne Hooks in the Police Academy films. However, her career began in 1964 when she appeared in Hello Dolly! Appearance.

On Broadway, the actress starred in Miss Moffat, Eubie !, and on the big screen, she was on the ABC variety show Keep On Truckin 'and played regularly on Cos.
Ramsey's acting career stretched into the 2010s when she reunited with Steve Guttenberg, colleague at the Police Academy, for Lavalantula 2015 and 2 Lava 2 Lantula 2016.
Marion Ramsey was an HIV and AIDS education attorney throughout her life. She is survived by her three brothers.
