Pop Smoke reportedly died of a gunshot wound to the upper body, the Los Angeles County Coroner Office said.
The 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper was killed in a Hollywood Hills home on Wednesday. A friend of someone in the house reportedly called the police and claimed that there were armed intruders in the house.
The cause of death was determined by the investigation office after the autopsy was completed. Officials say the coroner's office officially declared Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, the victim of the murder.
Earlier reports of Pop Smoke's death said he had been the victim of a robbery. Although detectives did not rule out that robbery may have played a role, there is also a possibility that something else might provide a motive.
According to Captain Jonathan Tippet, head of the LAPD robbery department, the murder said on Wednesday morning at 4:29 a.m. on the 2000 block of Hercules Drive.
An unknown number of suspects reportedly entered the residence and shot at Smoke. He was later taken to a local hospital by the LA fire department, where he was pronounced dead.
The police have not disclosed whether they have made arrests or are looking for certain suspects.
