Republican George Sen. David Perdue deliberately mispronounced the names of the Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate and Sen. Kamala Harris at a Donald Trump rally on Friday October 16, and now it is costing him a lot of time.
“The most insidious thing Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden are trying to do and Bernie (Sanders) and Elizabeth (Warren) and Kamala … or what KAH-mah-lah? Kah-MAH-lah? Kamala-Mala-Mala ?! I don't know at all, ”Purdue told the Macon, Georgia crowd on Friday (October 15) of Harris, identified as Black through her father Donald Harris and South Asian through her late Indian-born mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris .
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Perdue's Democratic opponent Jon Ossoff reportedly raised more than $ 1.8 million from at least 42,000 donors on Sunday evening after Perdue made fun of ridicule. The hashtag #MyNameIs was also trending on Saturday, as social media users shared their own stories about being bullied over ethnic-sounding names while slamming Perdue.
The Indo-American community was particularly angry at the ridiculousness of her name and backed off against Perdue's ridicule.

Perdue, who is standing for re-election, also angered Harris' press secretary Sabrina Singh, who is herself an Indian.
In response to his racist joke, Singh had a zinger for Perdue. "I'll keep it simple: if you can pronounce the" former "Senator David Perdue, you can pronounce the" future "Vice President Kamala Harris," she told India-based newspaper The Hindu.
