Whatsapp, One of the most popular instant messaging platforms on the planet is testing a feature that will make it easier for 2 billion users to determine whether the message they say is true.
In the latest beta version of his Android App, Facebook's own service, has given users the ability to quickly search the web with the text or video they have received for more context.
Whatsapp has been testing this feature in some ways for several quarters (last year some users were able to look up an image on the web), but a spokesman has now told theinformationsuperhighway that the platform plans to introduce this feature in the near future.
“We are working on new features that allow users to get more information about the messages they have received and that have been forwarded multiple times. This feature is currently being tested and we look forward to introducing it in the near future, ”said a spokesman in a statement.
Timely testing of this feature comes at a time when WhatsApp and other messaging platforms are being used more than ever, as people stay in touch with their friends, family, and colleagues in the face of a global pandemic.
And as in the past, several platforms, including WhatsApp, are struggling to spread misinformation – this time with the corona virus.
But WhatsApp acted much faster this time. Dozens of governments were contacted last month to support their efforts to provide accurate information to the general public today.
India today announced a WhatsApp bot to better inform its citizens about coronavirus. Earlier this week, the World Health Organization also announced a WhatsApp bot that people around the world can use to destroy myths about the corona virus and answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the disease.
“The WHO Health Alert is the latest official NGO or government hotline available on WhatsApp that joins the Singapore government, the Israeli Ministry of Health, the South African Ministry of Health and KOMINFO Indonesia. We are actively working to launch local services with other countries, ”said WhatsApp in a statement.
