Simone Giertz, the self-described Queen of Shitty Robots, made a selfie photo booth out of Legos for her dog Scraps and yes, she is as cute as it sounds. It helps that the dog is a VERY GOOD GIRL and extremely photogenic.
Giertz built the little booth using a Lego Mindstorms kit and Lego bricks (the video is sponsored by Lego) and assembled a pedal, distance sensor and circuit board to connect to a dispenser that drops a treat and takes a photo, when the dog presses the pedal.
"She goes in there, there is a small pedal that she can press with her paw, it triggers a camera that triggers a treat dispenser," explains Giertz. "She gets a reward, I get a photo, everyone is happy."
She says she got the idea for the dog photo booth while teaching Scraps how to use her paw to scroll a phone and take photos of herself. Because who of us hasn't tried to get our dogs to take selfies?

Simone Giertz and Scraps
Giertz is known for her bizarre, mostly useless robots that rarely do what they're supposed to, but are totally funny. Experience the overzealous lipstick application robot, the breakfast machine that Cheerios brings everywhere but the bowl, the musical instrument made of teeth, and the wake-up machine with a rubber hand that strikes them awake.
In addition to building a very funny robot, Giertz showed her new workshop in Los Angeles in the video (with Scraps patiently hanging around and watching). You can find the full video here.
