Ride-hail company Ryde announced today (March 4) that it is partnering with Premier taxi company to add 2,000 taxis to its fleet.
By expanding the driver base, Ryde can better meet user needs at peak times.
Following this partnership, Premier taxi drivers can now gradually accept fixed-rate and taxi orders from the Ryde network.
This means that premier taxi drivers can get more earning opportunities in addition to their usual hail job.
Conversely, after a faster match rate for bookings, Ryde users can expect a shorter wait.
In contrast to drivers from other hail fighting companies who accept bookings via a special driver app, prime taxi drivers can easily view and accept real-time orders via the Ryde app or the MDT (Mobile Data Terminal) screens.
This integrated system helps to improve the booking flow for taxi drivers so that they can make better decisions about accepting bookings and thus improve their traffic safety.
Lim Chong Boo, CEO of Premier, said the company has always been concerned that "drivers have to manage some devices to support the different app operators."
Terence Zou, founder and CEO of Ryde Technologies, agreed that such "innovative technical solutions … create tremendous value for everyone – operators, drivers and users."
The technical solution also enables the entire Premier fleet to access Ryde jobs seamlessly and efficiently from their MDT, he added.
In line with the new partnership, Ryde will also cut service fees for all RydeX and RydeTAXI services.
However, a 3 percent transaction fee will still apply to Rydepay jobs. There is no additional charge for trips paid in cash.
