On Thursday (January 7th), StarHub announced that it had entered into an exclusive agreement with The Walt Disney Company to become the official distributor for Disney + in Singapore.
Users can access content on the Disney + streaming platform through StarHub's television, fiber broadband, or 5G mobile network services.
Starting February 23, customers will be able to view access to Disney's six content brands on a device of their choice, be it on their TV or mobile device, according to StarHub.
If you're ready to sign up for Disney +, here is information on the other major video streaming platforms in Singapore.
How different is Disney + from other video streaming platforms?
Six content brands are available to viewers: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and the long-standing Asian entertainment platform Star.
Subscribers can choose from over 500 films and 15,000 episodes of content.

You'll also get access to exclusive Disney + originals and specials, including The Mandolorian, WandaVision by Marvel Studios, Disney & # 39; s Lady and The Tramp, and more.
This makes Singapore the first market in the world to have access to content from all six brands.
According to a press release, Star will double the amount of content available on Disney + and stream TV shows and films from Disney Television Studios, FX Productions and 20th Century Studios.
Movies like Deadpool 1 and 2 will be coming to Disney + via Star, along with shows like How I Met Your Mother and The X-Files.
Star may be known in Asia as the brand has sold tons of series and films here, but it won't make its global debut for other countries until February.
The very first Star Original will premiere on Disney +, a thriller called Big Sky by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Boston Legal). Other old favorites also come with Star, like 24, Lost, Desperate Housewives, Prison Break, Atlanta, Blackish and more.

On the other hand, the dominant player Netflix has a huge catalog of content ranging from Breaking Bad to billions, produced by television networks.
The powerhouse also produces its own original series like "Stranger Things", "The Crown", "Haunting On The Hill House" and "The Queen & # 39; s Gambit" that you cannot find on other platforms.
Netflix and Disney + will overlap in terms of content, but Disney + entices with a variety of content that is also not available on Netflix.
In terms of content, Amazon Prime Video offers significantly fewer shows compared to Netflix and the other players.
However, they also produce their own shows – Amazon Originals – such as Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Der Mann im Hohen Schloss, The Expanse, Bosch, The Grand Tour, Jack Ryan by Tom Clancy, Good Omens and Homecoming.
In the meantime, as the name suggests, HBO Go is mostly meant for HBO shows like the blockbuster Game of Thrones. It's also great if you want to see shows like Band of Brothers, Sex and the City, and True Detective.
Should you sign up for Disney +?
The subscription fees for Disney + are S $ 11.98 per month or S $ 119.98 per year – this is quite reasonable and on par with Netflix.
Netflix's plans range from S $ 11.98 to S $ 19.98 per month, depending on the number of devices.

Because of the variety of content on offer, Disney + can be a strong competitor for Netflix.
If you're feeling overwhelmed with the content on Netflix, this is a reason to sign up for Disney +.
On the other hand, Amazon Prime Video is bundled with other Amazon Prime services like the free one-day domestic delivery service.
So it is more of an add-on if you are already an Amazon customer and you don't mind paying S $ 2.99 per month (for the time being).
