With the Movement Control Ordinance, which states that all business premises except essential services must be closed for this two-week period, some SMEs will be severely affected.
In Malaysia we have around 900,000 registered SMEs, almost 20% of which are F&B companies.
According to StoreHub, half of the customers are cafes and restaurants.
Due to the lack of dine-in customers, their customers will lose billions of ringgit earnings during this partial suspension.
For some, this might be enough to get them out of business, so they have to turn to grocery deliveries to keep their business going.
After learning that the food delivery service could continue to function as usual during this period, StoreHub took matters into his own hands.
An hour after Muhyiddin's speech on March 16, the StoreHub team was busy developing their own solution that would not only help their customers, but also other F&B companies.

Vulcan Post spoke to Xin-Ci,
StoreHubs marketing director to learn more about Beep Delivery.
She told us that enabling food delivery wasn't a plan that StoreHub came up with overnight.
"We had customers
This feature has already been requested and it was a feature that we knew would be added
the completeness of our platform. "
Apparently, they had already planned to release this feature this year, but the COVID-19 pandemic that spread across Southeast Asia and the recent motion control regulation only accelerated its release.
So far, around 15% of Malaysian F&B customers have signed up after StoreHub sent a single SMS to their customer base yesterday, and they expect to have more on board as soon as possible.
"For us as long as we know
This kind of drastic step is necessary to curb the spread (of COVID-19)
This will harm our customers and their livelihoods, ”said Xin-Ci.
"Social distancing is necessary for the time being, and we want to do everything we can to slow down the spread and help our customers make a living," she concluded.
