T-Mobile seems to have problems.
Customers report that they cannot make or receive calls, although data and text messages do not appear to be affected. DownDetector, which collects user failure reports, indicates that a serious failure is in progress. It's not clear how widespread the problem is, but at the time of writing, T-Mobile was trending on Twitter in the U.S.
The outage appears to have started on Monday at 10 a.m.PT (1 p.m. ET).
During our own tests in New York and Seattle, we found that making calls from a T-Mobile phone failed almost immediately after making the call. We also found that the cellular service on our phones was sporadic and the bars occasionally dropped to zero or lost access to high speed data.
In April, Sprint and T-Mobile completed their $ 26 billion merger. This makes the combined cellular network the third largest cellular provider in the United States after AT&T and Verizon.
A spokesman for T-Mobile also did not immediately comment on the failure.
