In the footsteps of M1, Singapore Telco TPG, in collaboration with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), is also publishing a Seniors Go Digital cellular plan.
Last month, M1 launched two new plans called "Seniors Go Digital" and "Mobile Access for Seniors" to support and encourage seniors to use digital services.
Both TPG and M1 are telecommunications companies selected to participate in IMDA's efforts at SG Digital to encourage and support low-income seniors in digital adoption.
Richard Tan, CEO of TPG Singapore, said: “Many seniors do not have access to affordable, worry-free cellular plans. This makes it more difficult for them to adapt to the new normal, which requires constant connectivity. "
Both the senior-specific cellular plans of M1 and TPG are suitable for Singaporeans and permanent residents aged 60 and over.
TPG's Seniors Go Digital SIM plan is available today through July 31, 2021 at a special price of S $ 5 per month.
After this promotional period, the price will be increased to S $ 10 per month.
What does the plan include?
The plan allows seniors to use unlimited data, throttling the first 20 GB at 4G speed and then at 512 Kbps.
The M1 “Seniors Go Digital” plan offers 30 GB of data for S $ 18.75 per month for a SIM-only plan. A contracted plan with one device is also available for S $ 30 for 12 GB of data.
All plans include a free three-month Viu Premium and TVBAnywhere + subscription.
Low-income seniors who qualify for IMDA's Mobile Access For Seniors are eligible for a one-year mobile plan for $ 5 a month and a smartphone for only $ 20.
The plan offers 6 GB of data under M1 and 20 GB under TPG. Singtel and Starhub also offer subsidized plans as part of the IMDA.
