LONDON (Reuters) – British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said Thursday he was deeply concerned about the arrest of Hong Kong democracy activist Joshua Wong, describing it in a tweet as yet another example of Hong Kong authorities cracking down on activists.
"The Chinese and HK authorities must respect the rights and freedoms of the people of Hong Kong, which are protected in the joint statement," said Raab.
Hong Kong police arrested 23-year-old Wong Thursday for attending an unauthorized gathering in October 2019 and violating the city's anti-masking law. This comes from a post on Wong's Twitter account.
