Watch live as SpaceX’s first astronaut-carrying spacecraft docks with the International Space Station – theinformationsuperhighway

Today around 10:30 a.m. EDT (7:30 a.m. PDT), SpaceX The Crew Dragon capsule will dock with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on board the International Space Station. The two have been in orbit since the Kennedy Space Center in Florida yesterday at 3:22 p.m. EDT. This historic launch made SpaceX the first private space company to fly people into orbit.

You can see the livestream above to see the approach and docking maneuver as well as the transfer process once the hatch opens and Hurley and Behnken take the short trip from their spaceship to the ISS. The astronauts will then serve a shortened mission on board the orbital laboratory, but will participate in all the activities that a regular ISS rotary astronaut would perform before finally returning to Earth in a few weeks aboard the Crew Dragon.

This milestone mission is the first crewed flight for NASA Commercial crew program that certifies SpaceX Crew Dragon for regular mission missions with astronauts from the agency and their partners to and from the space station .

Before docking, the astronauts will perform manual tests of the spacecraft's control system, their second test after a first attempt yesterday shortly after launch. Crew Dragon is designed to fly and dock on its own. However, part of this mission is to ensure that the manual controls work as intended if astronauts ever need to use them in an emergency.

After Twitter applied a fact-checking label to a misleading vote tweet via email from U.S. President Donald Trump, Twitter is on the rise and has labeled another tweet from the president – this time he checks his words from a casual perspective what it contains calls a "notice of public interest" in which the tweet is given violate his rules for glorifying violence. u00a0 n

The tweet is displayed without further interaction (second tweet in the following screenshot): n

n

The public interest notice replaces the content of what Trump wrote, which means that a user must actively click through to view the offensive tweet. N.

The engagement options are also limited due to this label. This means that users can only retweet the offensive tweet with a comment. You can't like it, reply to it, or retweet vanilla. n

The Twitter announcement further explains why the offensive tweet was not completely removed – and this is where the public interest element of the directive comes into play -. The company writes: “Twitter has determined that this may be in the public interest for the tweet to remain accessible. ” U00a0 n

Twitter yesterday's decision by the president to sign an executive ordinance aimed at the legal protection that internet companies rely on to protect them from liability for user-created content seems to shake off – doubling because Trump disapproves of social -Media platforms in general have accused them of deliberately suppressing conservative views, despite plenty of evidence that algorithms for the ad targeting platform actually promote outrageous content and views – which, conversely, tends to reinforce conservative views. n

At the recent clash, Trump had tweeted about violent demonstrations in Minneapolis triggered by the murder of a black man, George Floyd, by a white cop. The president claimed that "BULLETS dishonor George Floyd's memory." before you threaten to send in the "military". n

"Any difficulty and we'll take control, but when the looting begins, the shooting starts. Thank you! "Trump added – a bleak threat to use military force against civilians. N.

n

Twitter has looked at how to deal with the world's leading companies that have been violating content rules for years. Mostly as a result of Trump, who routinely uses his platform to harass all kinds of goals – from rival politicians to hated journalists, disobedient business leaders and even actors who displease him – and to spread direct and sometimes violent threats. N.

Since his election, Trump has also used Twitter's global platform as a foreign policy weapon and launched military threats against North Korea and Iran in tweet form. N.

In 2018, for example, he teased North Korean head of state Kim Jong Un with the push of a button (see Tweet below) – before he "fell in love" with the dictator when he met him personally. N n n

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has just said that the nuclear button is always on his desk. Will someone from his exhausted and low-food regime inform him that I also have a nuclear button, but it is much bigger? more powerful than his and my button works! n

– Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 3, 2018 n

n

The defense of Twitter, because there have been no offensive Trump tweets in the past, was that as the US President, the substance of what the man tweets – crazy, bad and dangerous as it may be – is inherently up to date. N.

More recently, however, the company has developed a policy tool that it can intervene with. Last summer, terms for content of "public interest" were defined on Twitter. N.

It warned back then (almost a full year ago, in June 2019) that tweets that would otherwise violate its rules (and therefore deserve to be deactivated) could be given a public interest notice to “add context and clarity create". instead of removing the offensive tweet. n

A year later, the technology giant has started labeling Trump's tweets – from a fact-checking label earlier this week related to the upcoming U.S. election to a public interest announcement related to Trump's glorification of violence . n

After all, the tech giant seems to be drawing a borderline around Trump in near real time. N.

The company explains its decision to flag the US President's threat to order the military to shoot looters in Minneapolis: “This tweet violates our policy to glorify violence based on the historical context of the last line, its connection violence and the risk that it could lead to similar actions today. " N n n

We have placed a note of public interest on this tweet from @realdonaldtrump. https: / / t.co / 6RHX56G2zt n

– Twitter Comms (@TwitterComms) May 29, 2020 n

n

“We have taken measures to prevent others from being inspired to commit violent acts, but have kept the tweet on Twitter because it is important that the public can continue to see the tweet as it is relevant to ongoing public issues , ”Twitter continues. N.

It also points to its policy against tweets that glorify violence – which is clearly (in bold): “You must not threaten violence against an individual or a group of people. " N.

Already in June, when Twitter announced the label "Abusive Behavior", it warned that tweets that are screened with a notice of public interest will not benefit from any algorithmic acceleration. "We will also take steps to ensure that the tweet in our service is not raised algorithmically to strike the right balance between allowing freedom of expression, promoting accountability and reducing the potential harm caused by these tweets." N.

However, the timeliness of Twitter's decision to finally apply its own rules to Trump will ensure that there is a lot of non-algorithmic reinforcement (and not a little irony). N.

We contacted the company with questions about his decision to apply a public interest screen to Trump's latest tweet, but at the time of writing, it hadn't responded. N.

On Wednesday night, Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey released a series of tweets defending his decision to assign a fact check label to Trump's previous misleading email polls. N.

"This does not make us an" arbiter of truth, "" Dorsey wrote. “Our intention is to connect the points of contradicting statements and to display the information at issue so that people can judge for themselves. We need more transparency so that people can clearly see why our actions are behind them. " N n n

Fact check: There is someone who is ultimately responsible for our actions as a company, and I am. Please let our employees down. We will continue to report false or controversial information about elections worldwide. And we will admit and own all the mistakes we make. N.

– jack (@jack) May 28, 2020 n

n

Dorsey's comments followed targeted comments from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Fox News, who is trying to contrast Facebook's claimed "neutrality" in monitoring its platform with Twitter's policies on issues such as political advertising (which Twitter doesn't allow). N.

I just firmly believe that Facebook shouldn't be the arbiter of the truth about everything people say online, Zuckerberg told the conservative news channel. Private companies, in particular these platform companies, should not be able to do this. u201d n

It is noteworthy that Dorsey used Zuckerberg's exact phrase to reject Facebook's attack on Twitter's policy as a straw man argument

Update I, Trump responds: In an early reaction to the move from Twitter, the Trump administration cited the offensive tweet from the White House's official Twitter account and reinforced the violent threat to the president. N n n

These thugs dishonor the memory of George Floyd, and I won't let that happen. I just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him the military was with him all the way. Any difficulty and we'll take control, but when the looting begins, the shooting starts. Thank you so much! U201d https: / / t.co / GDwAydcAOw n

– The White House (@WhiteHouse) May 29, 2020 n

n

Trump also reaffirmed his threat to regulate social media by revoking Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act in a new series of tweets this morning. He accused Twitter of ignoring "China's lies and propaganda or the Radical Left Democrat Party". n n n

Twitter does nothing against all the lies and propaganda spread by China or the Radical Left Democrat Party. They have targeted Republicans, Conservatives and the President of the United States. Section 230 should be revoked by the Congress. Until then, it will be regulated! N.

– Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump), May 29, 2020 n

n

Update II, Whack-a-Mole: Twitter has now checked the quote-tweet copy of Trump's tweet that management sent from the White House Twitter account. N.

When news brokeu00a0Friday morning that Britain is looking to propose an alliance of democracies to build a 5G alternative to Huawei, you might think that that was the worst thing to happen to the controversial Chinese telecoms giant this week. In fact, it just caps off a series of fast-moving events that surely makes this one of the most decisive weeks yet in the global fight over next-generation 5G networks.n

So letu2019s go back a step. After all, readers who have been following the Huawei debate might recall that not long ago the UK had controversially agreed to allow Huawei to attain up to 35% market share in u201cnon-core areasu201d of its 5G network. So what was behind Londonu2019s sudden about-face?n

The answer is politics. There was always a loud group of China-skeptic dissenters in Parliament, but anger over Chinau2019s handling of the novel coronavirus pandemic pushed more MPs from Prime Minister Boris Johnsonu2019s own Conservative Party into the anti-Huawei camp and made the governmentu2019s position untenable. Rather than face a large parliamentary rebellion and possible legislative defeat later this year, Johnson instead gave in and announced plans earlier this week to phase out Huawei’s participation in Britainu2019s 5G network by 2023.nn

UK government reverses course on Huawei’s involvement in 5G networksn
