We can't stop watching the most addicting new Netflix series Emily in Parisand combines all of our Francophile dreams with beautiful, super-chic fashion, pain au chocolat, ambition and very cute boys (hi Antoine and Gabriel!). Aside from the protagonist Emily, played by Lily Collins, who looks like short plaid jackets and chic monochrome outfits and is wonderfully neurotic with everything from work to love, there is another character whose fashion sense and big attitude is the next Levels are. Parisian boss Sylvie is fashionable but classic in her style and a total Miranda Priestley when it comes to her behavior as a director of a marketing company. Sylvie is played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu in a believable, funny, winced and very, very French way.
Who is the Filipino Leroy-Beaulieu?
Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu is a French actress who was born in Rome in 1963. She is the daughter of the French film star Philippe Leroy, who is known for his extensive work in Italian cinema. Leroy-Beaulieu began acting in Paris when she was 16. Her first acting role was in Roger Vadim's 1983 film surprise party, a French film about the adventures of a group of teenagers in a French provincial town in the 1950s. One of her greatest roles came right after 1985 when she starred as a troubled mother Trois hommes et un couffin (Three Men and a Cradle), a film about three single men stuck with a baby (sounds familiar?). She received a César nomination for the film and henceforth immersed herself in interesting, diverse films, television series and miniseries that have cemented her prominence in the French acting world.
After the role that earned her a César Award nomination, Leroy-Beaulieu continued to work uninterruptedly and has since acted in over 60 parts. She is known for her role in Les Possédés, in which Isabelle Huppert plays the lead role and follows a group of young anarchists planning a political upheaval, as well as films and series such as Natalia and the CBS show Mistral's daughter about an arrogant Parisian painter. Most recently, you'll find her on the hilarious series "Sweet-with-a-Bite" Call my agent! that comes from France and was picked up by Netflix. A show that follows the work and life of the employees of the talent agency ASK and shows real French film stars. She will wrap you up in Parisian charm Emily in Paris. In it, Leroy-Beaulieu plays the wife of a renowned talent agent, and her role on the series is similarly chic with a touch of attitude – and we live for it (and the clothes).
Throughout her career, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu has proven that she is a mainstay in the Francophone acting scene and that her role as a mean girl is believable Emily in Paris handed us the popcorn. Plus, their off-the-shoulder knitwear, pencil skirts, sheer necklines and jackets are a major source for #fallfashioninspo right now.
