Netflix struck gold extraction, the latest action film with Chris Hemsworth. The film quickly became one of the most successful films that premiered on the streaming service. In the first month after its release, an outstanding 90 million households were viewed. No wonder that Netflix signed a contract for a company within a few weeks of its global premiere extraction Episode.
In an exclusive with DeadlineJoe Russo, the author of the film, confirmed that a contract between AGBO and Netflix has been signed for a sequel and that a script is currently at a very early stage. He continued that so far there is no idea whether the story will continue from where it left off, or maybe go back in time. Joe said that while a sequel is in progress, there are still many things in the air. The two biggest question marks right now are the potential returns from Sam Hargrave as a director and Hemsworth as Tyler Rake.
You may remember the ambiguous ending of the film, in which viewers had to decide whether Tyler survived the Bangladesh shootout or returned to Ovi, the kidnapped boy, as a guardian angel. Many fans – including myself – hope for the latter; mainly so that we can see Hemsworth fighting drug lords, escaping shootings and explosions, and doing more chases, but can you blame us? Hemsworth is one of the greatest stars in the world thanks to his role as Thor in the Avengers films, and it's hard to imagine that the film would have worked just as well without him as the main character.
Unfortunately, we have to wait anxiously for the script to finish to confirm whether Hemsworth will return to the set. On the plus side, Hemsworth has had a healthy and friendly relationship with AGBO and Sam since they started working together Avenger: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Not to mention Hemsworth's playful hint of sequels and prequels in an Instagram video. "There has been a lot of talk about sequels and prequels and all kinds of things. I can only say: & # 39; Who knows? & # 39; But with that kind of support I would be happy to jump back." It seems that the chances are now in our favor!
No release date is set Extraction 2, because the script is still being processed and production is currently being interrupted due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
