Microsoft today provides mouse and trackpad support for its Office for iPad apps. The software maker promised to update its Office iPadOS apps earlier this year. The updates are now available in the App Store for Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
With Office for iPad, you can now use the built-in trackpad on Apple's Magic Keyboard to navigate text, photos, and other objects in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The cursor is context sensitive, like other apps that have used the magic keyboard, so you can highlight text in Word, resize pictures and charts in PowerPoint, and select multiple cells in Excel. It's very similar to using Office on a PC or Mac.

In addition to mouse and trackpad support, Microsoft is expanding its Office for iPad apps with a smoother user interface. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint have updated home screens and a new set of function menus.
Microsoft also plans to add multiple document support for Excel, better context menus, and offline files support for cloud files in the coming months. This latest mouse and keyboard support is rolling out today and should "reach all users in a few weeks".
