The worldwide number of coronavirus pandemic deaths was 650,000 on Monday, almost a third of them in Europe. This emerges from an AFP balance sheet, which was compiled from official sources around 1600 GMT.
Since its appearance in China at the end of last year, the virus has killed a total of 650,011 people and infected 16,323,558, of whom 9,190,345 have been declared restored. More than 100,000 new deaths have been recorded since July 9, and the global number has doubled in just over two months.
